This English Tall case ca 1825 came to me with a broken hood door. When the hood door fell off the clock the previous owner had the foresight to save all the broken parts, even the original glass.  The upper part of the door frame had warped causing the door to fit poorly causing the door hinge to break. I imagine the door landed on the floor as the glass was broken and the frame was in several pieces. The original frame was pine with mahogany veneer, I was able to salvage all the original veneer from the broken parts of the old frame transferring it to the newly made upper frame part. Although not an undetectable repair it certainly restored the integrity of the clock and reused all salvageable original parts.
