Boardman and Wells reverse glass painting repair

Many old clocks came with decorative glass in their lower door panels. They would depict many different scenes, from simple buildings to historical figures.  The tablet is glass with the paint applied to the reverse side, thus the name, reverse glass painting.  Many of these paintings are very fine in quality bordering on works of art, although the artists are seldom known.  Some are quick renditions of landscapes painted in a production line method, but still quite attractive. The paint is prone to lifting from the glass with age and often leaves missing fragments to entire glasses with only a shadow of the former painting. The following pictures depict the repair of a small section missing from a building scene.
